The main reason why so many Russian women seek husbands abroad is very simple: The economic situation in Russia isn’t very good and a lot of intelligent and well-educated women have to struggle just to survive. Many teachers, doctors and scientists work only occasionally and very often at a level well below their potential. Highly educated women commonly work in shops or do other menial work. Of course Russian women want a better life! But Russian men generally can’t offer them this better life because they are in the same economic situation. This is the reason why Russian ladies are looking for a western partner. Russian women are not choosing between Russian men and foreign men. They just choose the possibility of a happy future for themselves and better opportunities for their future children. Russian women WANT TO LOVE and to be LOVED but, on the other hand they want to feel secure too. BUT you shouldn’t expect that your money and citizenship are the only reasons why a nice Russian lady will want to marry you. Russian women don’t “sell” themselves. They are just looking for real, true love, just as much as you are.

More than a half of all Russian women have studied English at school. English is a compulsory subject at Russian universities and colleges and everyone who has a degree has completed at least 3 years course of English in the course of their studies. Even so Russian ladies often can’t speak English very well, because generally they have had little opportunity to practice speaking and writing outside of the classroom. They have learned some English but then forgotten most it because they have never been able to use it in daily life. But the fact that they have studied English forms a good basis for Russian women to progress rapidly if they have a good reason to improve their English. Thus you could expect her to speak English fluently after a few months of living in an English speaking country.

Maybe the most important difference between Russian woman and woman from western countries is in how they commonly behave. Western ladies often prefer independence and freedom and they want to have an equal social status with men. They don’t want to be a traditional woman, living according to traditional standards. They prefer to have a good career and spend their free time with friends and not to have a family and take care of children before they are older. Western women like to dress down, wear jeans, t-shirts and sports wear. Sometimes it seems to us that they don’t care so much about their appearance. The situation is completely different in Russia. There is no feminism in Russia at all. Russian ladies feel they are different from men, not inferior of course, just different. They want men to take care of them and they enjoy this because they think it is natural, simply because they are women. Family and children are often the most important things for Russian ladies. Russian women like to look beautiful: they prefer to be feminine, to have nice make up, a good haircut and fashionable clothes. They are generally kind, devoted, careful well-educated and intellectual. All young Russian ladies are very fond of short skirts and sometimes this can be a bit of a shock for western men.
